I got the chance to see Public Enemy at Koko Club, London. They have just finished the Kings of the Mic Tour with LL Cool J, Ice Cube, De La Soul and DJ Chuck Chillout and recently been inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.
Myself and brother Dwella met with Chuck D backstage where we discussed future projects and Chuck signed GoldenEra prints for Public Enemy fans. We got the chance to thank Chuck for guestlist and talked a bit of politics and history. We also spoke to Brother Malik, aka Tony King who we’ve since found out appeared in the movie Shaft and was recently elected to the NFL Hall of Fame. Now that is the head of security every legendary group should have. It was the second time we got a chance to meet Tony and he was as friendly and interesting as Chuck himself. Having worked with Caxton Press I got the chance to chat to them about what it was like to support one of music’s finest ever groups. Manage, Amy True and Emcee Killa were all blown away by the love from both the crowd and PE themselves.
Chuck made it quite clear that he had become a big fan of the UK’s no.1 Hip Hop crew, Caxton Press who supported them with superb live band Unexpected Guests. The performance from Public Enemy was as great as ever.
